Kerrisdale Korner is a 9 unit town house project in central Nanaimo, walking distance to schools, restaurants, shopping and bus connections. Each unit is a two story dwelling with a garage on the ground floor and a private deck or patio. Few projects have aimed to take such great advantage of corridor zoning changes like this one and provide badly needed affordable housing, while enhancing the neighbourhood without public money. This proved very difficult. Rare Garry Oak Trees were identified and had to be saved. Structural challenges threatened to erode affordability, but in the end, it was mission accomplished. Most owners were first time buyers and all of them greatly appreciated the affordability.
